Improving the student experience at the University of applied sciences of Rijeka through 360° virtual walk: research of the impact and potential application

Sažetak
Virtual tours are still new and underutilized technology that has the potential to transform the way the world is seen. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including education, tourism and entertainment. As technology develops, virtual tours will become more popular and accessible, increasingly realistic and interactive. This will also make them more attractive to wider audience. In the paper, the authors assume that a 360° virtual tour through the University of Applied Sciences of Rijeka,
which was realized through a project organized by the Student Union of the University of Applied Sciences of Rijeka, will have a positive effect on improving the student experience, as well as attracting new students. Research of the impact on studying was conducted on the student population of the University of Applied Sciences of Rijeka, in the form of a survey. The results showed that most of the 65 students who approached the survey do not yet use virtual tours, but those who do, find them useful
and informative. The survey also showed that students appreciate and find informative and useful virtual tour of the University of Applied Sciences of Rijeka building. The survey also collected a number of useful tips for improving the project itself. The paper also includes a literature review, a description of the 3D scanning technology using Matterport Pro2 3D camera, an overview of the possibilities in practice, and a description of the 3D scanning steps performed during the scanning of the University of Applied Sciences of Rijeka.
