Sažetak

In today's digital age, children spend many hours a day in front of their smartphone screens. They often
play games that have no educational or formative character. There is an increasing presence of
frightening images displayed through digital games for children. Many children who do not play digital
games are nevertheless introduced to the content of those games through videos on various social
platforms where players are filmed playing and then post such video content. The impact of watching
and/or playing digital horror games on children is still insufficiently researched. This influence is not
linear, but depends on a number of personal factors such as the chronological age of the child, the level
of cognitive and verbal development, emotional reactivity and character traits. Among the social factors
of influence there is the environment for watching/playing, which can be solitary or social (when playing
in a group with several players), the wide availability and popularity of these contents, the organization
of free time and the lack of extracurricular activities. As a result of long-term exposure to inappropriate
digital content, there are emotional overwhelm, agitation, aggression, attention and hyperactivity
disorders, sleep disorders, specific phobias, general anxiety, nightmares, nocturnal enuresis and many
other regressive behaviors can occur. The presentation will be based on examples from clinical practice,
along with guidelines for recovery and preventive action
