The Essence of Language and the Philosophical Foundation of Grammar among the Greeks

Sažetak
The alteration of the philosophical conception of λόγος from Plato to Aristotle to the Stoics led to the emergence of philosophical grammar. From this philosophical grammar, Hellenistic grammar developed, which from then on determined the constitution and use of European languages. Its foundation is primarily rooted in Aristotelian and Stoic logic and grammar. However, by distancing itself from its philosophical roots, it laid the foundations for the further development of non-philosophical grammar among the Romans. With the appearance of Hellenistic-Roman grammar, the falling into oblivion of the essence of λόγος and the essence of speech reaches its first historical climax. The historical memory of the Greek philosophical origin of grammar, especially the early Greek pre-grammatical experience of λόγος, wherein the very essence of the speech manifests itself, serves to evoke a receptivity to the originary speech that can elude the governance of grammar.
