Elementary schools in Bjelovarsko-bilogorska county in the context of demographic movements from 1993 untill 2005

Sažetak
The author writes about international problems of the population, general demographic movements in Croatia and Bjelovarsko-bilogorska County. Within general movements in Croatia he specially analyzes movements of the number of elementary school pupils in Bjelovarsko-bilogorska County from 1993 until 2005. The research results point at the long-term tendency of the reduction of population and elementary school pupils in Croatia and Bjelovarsko-bilogorska County where there are 1955 students less or 14.3% in the period from 1993 until 2005. The tendency of students’ number reduction will continue in the following years, which will affect the definition of a new educational policy, which will have to pay more attention to standards related to the number of students, classes and employment. The author sees the solution to demographic questions within meaningfully made population policy and program for demographic development for all parts of Croatia.
