Sažetak

The Engine room complex of former Hungarian State Railway
was built in 1893. and later was the only example of this kind in Croatia.
The buildings are typical examples of the industrial architecture
from the end of the nineteenth century. and as such have historically-architectural and town-planning value.
The complex was the first planned and built area on the south of the newly established railway, based on the principles and aesthetics of the nineteenth century townplanning.
In all recent regulative plans the area has been planned for the completely new function, and the buildings were supposed to be demolished. As it usually happens, the buildings have not been demofished, and even new sections were added which diminished the qualities ofthe original organization of the area Owing to the historical and aesthetic values ofthe inherited space, the whole complex is suggested to beenlistedin the Register of the monuments of culture.
