The Feathered Serpent Deity in the Mythologies of Pre-Columbian America (Summary)

In America before Columbus’s discovery, numerous cultures and civilizations developed their own belief systems and religions. Native American civilizations arose, flourished and collapsed, and each subsequent civilization inherited, modified and built on the achievements of the previous one, and this also happened in terms of religion and mythology. This paper will present the myths of the Feathered Serpent, that is, Quetzalcóatl or Kukulkan, a god present in numerous Native American mythologies, such as Olmec, Toltec, Mayan, and Aztec. The myth of the Feathered Serpent spread over time among the Native American peoples and therefore went through a process of modification and evolution, and finally the Spanish conquerors constructed their own version.
