Sažetak
The aim of this study was to monitor the occurrence and distribution of fungal diseases of loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) in the Šibenik-Knin County and to analyze disease symptoms as well as the effects of harmful organisms on leaves, flowers, shoots, and fruits. Special attention was given to leaf spot and fruit scab (Fusicladium pyracanthae), leaf blotch (Phyllosticta fusiformis), powdery mildew (Podosphaera clandestina), brown rot (Monilinia spp.), and bark canker (Sphaeropsis eriobotryae). The research was conducted at several locations within Šibenik-Knin County (Šibenik, Jadrija, Kistanje, Vodice, and Bogdanovići), where disease symptoms were recorded and infected plant samples were collected. The causal agents of the diseases were identified at the Department of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zagreb, using conventional laboratory methods. During the study, the incidence and severity of infections were monitored, and the pathogens responsible for the observed symptoms were identified. Based on the obtained results, a guideline plant protection program was proposed, including preventive measures, pruning, sanitation practices, and the application of fungicides, including environmentally friendly biological products based on Bacillus subtilis. The results contribute to a better understanding of the distribution and importance of loquat diseases and provide a basis for improving disease management strategies.
