Sažetak

The main purpose of the "Alert" list, developed by the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) is to give Member States early warning of the potential risk of the introduction of invasive harmful organisms into an area where they were not previously present. The list is updated regularly and certain harmful organisms can be removed from the list, while other harmful organisms can be added to the list according to expert judgment. One of the most important orders of insect pests are butterflies, which can actively disperse over long distances and thus expand their range. The paper describes the morphological characteristics, life cycles, relationship to biotic factors, host plants, control options and phytosanitary risk of all butterfly species currently on the EPPO "Alert" list.
