The Sixteenth Latin Textual Criticism Workshop: An Unpublished Letter From Fran Trankvil Andreis

Sažetak
The presentation discusses the Latin workshop held during the XXXV
Marulić Days in Split in April 2025 and the results achieved. Students from Split,
guided by Nives Pantar and Luka Šop, transcribed from an autograph manuscript
an unpublished letter of Fran Trankvil Andreis to King Ferdinand of Habsburg sent
from Vienna on March 4, 1543 (Wien, Österreichisches Staatsarchiv, AT-OeStA/
HHStA StAbt Türkei I 5-5-5, fol. 16–17). They were introduced to the basics of
humanist epistolography and the context of the letter’s genesis and successfully
coped with the Latin handwritten text, abounding though it does with abbreviations and contractions.
