Sažetak

The paper reports on a research project about learning interests and attitudes toward learning in formal educational situations influenced by contextual museum learning, conducted in Zadar, Croatia.
Museums create unique milieus for contextual learning. Because of the constructed nature of learning, prior knowledge, interests and beliefs play a tremendous role in all learning and that is the reason why museum experience reinforces experiences outside the museum. In museum students can exercise choice over what and when they learn. But in context of formal education the knowledge and experience gained from museums is incomplete. It requires enabling context to become complete. In our research that enabling context occurs outside the museum, in school. But does museum visit increase their motivation to learn in school and do they find new ways to think about their school work? Can we use positive motivational influence of museum in formal learning situations? The research is not concerned with the learning outcomes from the projects, but with finding interconnection between informal museum learning and reinforcing interests and positive attitudes towards learning in formal educational context.
