Concerning the Completion of Benešić’s Dictionary

Sažetak

This article points out the variety of problems that the author has come up against while working on the project to complete Julije Benešić’s unfinished lexicographical work Rječnik hrvatskoga književnoga jezika od preporoda do I. G. Kovačića (Dictionary of the Croatian Literary Language from the [Croatian] Revival to Ivan Goran Kovačić). In addition to describing the process of how one lexicographical item is written, the article also discusses the position of Benešić’s Dictionary in light of historical and contemporary lexicographical paradigms, as well as the relationship between Benešić’s literary-language dictionary and contemporary Croatian monolingual dictionaries.
