Sažetak

The goal of this paper is to clarify the use of metaphysical speech in describing the metaphorical character of philosophy. Such characteristics were already given to philosophy during the Antics; firstly, in the form of theory of argumentation aimed against faulty thinking, and then in the sense of the art of living which contributes to the regulation of health. In 19th and 20th century its focus expanded onto the entire culture – philosophy became the cultural critique (for example in the works of Friedrich Nietzsche or the Frankfurt school). Finally, the contemporary philosophy is understood as the form of therapy that is supposed to cure from language confusion (Wittgenstein). Thus, it is necessary to pinpoint the importance of difference between “healthy” and “sick” for the self-understanding of philosophy and its role within the (post)modern culture of discourse.
