Sažetak

The paper deals with the dynamics of passenger coastal traffic organized by the largest Croatian owned passenger shipping firm "Jadrolinija" between Croatia and foreign ports. The experience gained in more than 150 years is emphasized as well as the insufficient positioning of passenger coastal traffic in the strategic orientation of the national economy, partly as a public service and partly as an independent economic activity primarily in the intemational tourist market.
