Sažetak In mathematics, the differential and integral calculus are the basics
of calculus, which is widely used in all sciences. The notion of derivative
was independently introduced by English mathematician, physicist
and astronomer Isaac Newton and German mathematician, physicist
and philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Newton came to the
concept of derivative by studying the problem of the instantaneous
velocity, while Leibniz dealt with the problem of tangent to a given
curve. In this paper, we will present application of the derivative as a
rate of change in physics, biology, chemistry and economics.
