THE FLORAL COMPOSITION OF CERTAIN GARDENS OF NORTH-WEST CROATIA DATING FROM THE FIRST HALF OF THE 19th CENTURY (A contribution to the Restoration of Historical Gardens in Croatia)

Sažetak
The paper shows results of the study and analyses of related plants which are represented in thirteen parks and gardens of the north-west Croatia dating from the first half of the 19th century.
The related plants are systematically put into groups according to their morphological characteristics, put into tables under their old original and new correct Latin names, and according to the parks and gardens in which they have been found.
The explorations have shown which plant species were used at that time in that area and which ones were prevailing in the majority of parks and gardens, giving them a specific and recognisable appearance.
Deciduous plants were used far more than the coniferous ones, together with many flowering bushes and perennial plants, roses, pelargoniums and succulents.
