Abstracts
Investigations were conducted on the experimental field of College of agriculture in Križevci (N: 46001'12'' E: 16033'61'') on 1 ha area, on four plots of crop rotation. Maize, oats, lupine and clover-grass mixture were grown in crop rotation. Investigation was done on molic gleysol of loamy texture. Influence of soil properties and climatic conditions on yields of grown crops was investigated. Positive correlations were determined between crop yields and soil water capacity, physiologically active and optimal moisture in the soil and soil air capacity (in lupine growing r = 0.60, p < 0.05 for optimal moisture content in the soil, r = 0.68, p < 0.05 for soil air capacity). Negative correlations were determined between yields of grown crops and packing density of soil particles (in lupine growing r = - 0.64, p < 0.05 for surface horizon; r = - 0.59, p < 0.05 for subsurface horizon). Negative correlation was also determined between crop yield and moisture content at wilting point (in lupine growing r = - 0.60, p < 0.05). Positive correlations were determined between yields of grown crops and investigated chemical soil properties, but they were significant only for soil reaction measured in 1 MKCL (in growing clover-grass mixture r = 0.82, p < 0.05; in growing maize r = 0.70, p < 0.05). Grain yields of maize and oats were more stable during investigation period, while at the same time yields of hay of clover-grass mixture and grain yields of lupine varied more, depending mainly on climatic conditions during investigation which were unfavourable, with drought periods during vegetation. Crop growing in crop rotation system and combined organic and mineral fertilization with lime application, besides positive effects on crop yields, may diminish the negative impact of drought.
