GPR - GROUND PENETRATION RADAR FOR DECORATIVE STONE
QUARRY PROSPECTION
Basics of the GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) method are given with highlights regarding usage for the decorative stone quarry prospection. Ground penetrating radar is capable to indicate interfaces, fissures and other geological formations including carst phenomena that can impact the exploitation costs. Main advantage of the GPR method is direct position and extent detection of such subsurface structures. Further interpretation yields information on structural variations such as anisotropic or degraded areas in stone mass.
