Sažetak
Industrial robotics is one of the key drivers of the transformation of production processes in modern industry and represents a crucial component of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0). This article aims to analyze the dynamics of industrial robot implementation in two strategically important sectors – the automotive and the electrical/electronic industries – at the global level. Special attention is given to five leading countries in terms of robot density over the past decade: Japan, South Korea, Germany, China, and the United States. Through a comparative analysis based on statistical data from relevant sources (such as the International Federation of Robotics, industry reports, and papers indexed in WoS and Scopus databases), the study explores key trends, strategies, and technologies that have enabled these countries to become global leaders in industrial robotics. The results indicate that the automotive industry remains the most significant sector for robot deployment, with a high concentration of robots in welding, assembly, and painting operations. In contrast, the electrical/electronic industry has recorded the fastest growth in robot installations, particularly in the assembly of small components and precision handling tasks. The analysis highlights significant regional differences in the drivers of robotization: while countries such as Germany and Japan primarily aim to enhance productivity and quality, China and South Korea use robotics not only to achieve these goals but also as a means of reducing dependence on labor and strengthening global competitiveness. This article provides recommendations for the further development of industrial robotics in other sectors and in developing countries, emphasizing the need for integrating robots with advanced digital technologies of Industry 4.0.
