Sažetak
A bad mark, or a mark worse than the child was expecting, is the most frequent cause of stress in school-aged children. Research so far has shown that various teaching programmes dealing with stress management strategies may increase the repertoire of stress management techniques and improve the students cognitive functioning. The research was conducted to examine the effectiveness of the Programme entitled Learning Strategies for Managing Stress Caused by a Bad Mark on a sample of 90 students of the third and fourth form of primary school. The respondents in the experimental group attended eight workshops where they learned and practised strategies and skills for successfully managing stress caused by a bad mark. The effects of the programme on the strategies of facing a bad mark and on the goal orientations
of the students were studied. The results show that in the experimental group covered by the programme, there was a more frequent application of successful stress management strategies and more focus on performance in learning.
