Abstract

The aim of this paper is to describe the concept of criminal profiling, its application and the accuracy and usefulness in the field of application of this concept, especially in the field of criminology and criminology. In addition to the historical development of this concept, is also gives an overview of the most important methods in criminal profiling (including criminal investigative analysis, the psychology of the investigation, diagnostic evaluation, geographic profiling and analysis of behavioral evidence). Based on present knowledge, this paper will also discuss some issues related to shaping the future of criminal profiling such as issues of professionalism, the application of scientific methods, crime-profiling studies, the establishment of ethical standards and uniform system of education.
