Secessionist Reinforced Concrete Bridges Designed by the Engineer Fran Funtak
Dragan Damjanović
Sažetak
This paper deals with the history of bridge design and construction in the period between 1903 and 1914 when the engineer Fran Funtak used to work for the Josip Banheyer and Son company in Vukovar. The paper focuses on the most representative bridges viewed in the wider context of the world bridge construction. The bridges are marked by the author’s secession-style vocabulary which in this way spread into smaller urban and rural areas. These bridges are at the same time examples of the early use of reinforced concrete in Croatian architecture.
