Sažetak
In this paper the author analyses, in the context of an intercultural approach, some of the problems pertaining to educating children of migrant origin. She first discusses socializational influence of the school, which is always linked to the influence of the state and dominant culture. Therefore, education of the children of migrant origins is also placed in the context of social change (especially change which affects the migrant population). The intercultural project, which has for two decades (more or less) conpenetrated, among other things, the education systems of West European countries, is discussed with reference to the example of France. Finally, the author emphasizes the importance of cooperation between countries of migrant origin and immigration countries in the realization of the concept of intercultural education. Nevertheless, this concept, according to the author, cannot be sufficiently envigorated within a schematized practice that is (mainly) reduced only to recognizing the dignity of the original culture of immigrants, since interculturalism envisions mutuality, equal participation and exchange between all cultures in contact.
