Sažetak
Conservation work undertaken from 2005 to 2013 in the church of St. Matthew in Prodol initiated a revalorization of this small country church, whose architectural simplicity is complemented by elaborate wall paintings from the early–15th century that testify to the diversity of styles in the Istrian region in the period predating the rule of the Serenissima. Our knowledge so far of this building, published only as a travel report by Branko Fučić some sixty years ago, is supplemented with new insights and analyses of the building’s history, iconography, and style characteristics of the wall paintings. The article features a description of work carried out on the building by the Croatian Conservation Institute.
