EFFECT OF BREED STRUCTURE UPON THE PRODUCTION AND OUALITY OF PORK

Sažetak
The production and quality of park of the Swedish Landrace breed.(group A) and-three breed hybrids of F2 generation obtained by crooss-breeding the Swedish Landrace x Large White (f) with the Pietrain (m; group B) and with German Landrace (m; group C) in the ABC"Pomurka", Republic of Slovenia were investigated. The obtained results show that the while Pietrain breed is the best with regard to meatiness; it is also susceptible to stress and shows tendency to give pale, soft and exudative meat (PSE meat). ln this respect the hybrids of the German Landrace have in advantage, over the other two groups. The purebreed Swedish Landrace which in the above mentioned breeding is used neither for fattening nor for meat production, but as the basis of cross-breeding with other breeds, takes the middle position.
