EVALUATION OF SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS FIELD TRAINING

Abstract
The research lasted for two years and was done on the sample of 201 second and forth year students of Social Work Studies who had attended field training in the period between 1996 and 1998. The aim was to find out how students felt about field training, that is a part of regular school program for future social workers. We wanted to find out what were their experiences of field work as whole, their field teachers ’ work, institutions and their mentors. Results were analyzed through quality and quantity analyses. They showed that students were highly satisfied with their teachers ’ openness and availability, while they showed less enthusiasm regarding teachers’ professional competency and possibility of applying practice for their educational aims. Research results mode possible tofind out what were students’ attitudes regarding different aspeets of field training. Fourfactor swere isolated - student’s personal experience in field work with his/her field teacher, field teacher’s professional competency, institution where field training was led and social worker’s general competency as field teacher.
