Sažetak

Business process reengineering (BPR) has been given a lot of attention in the field of industrial engineering and it has been a subject of significant amount of research in the field of management.
However, much less attention has been paid to BPR in the context of public sector management. In rare research on said subject, BPR was adressed mostly theoreticaly without any clear model of it’s
implementation and possible benefits. Managers tend to be uncertain about the application of BPR in public processes, and are in doubt as to how to reorganize public sector organizations in line with the contemporary BPR. One of the positive examples of reorganization of business processes in public administration is the establishment of E-Government which allows citizens a modern, simplified and accelerated communication with public administration and also improves public sector transparency in providing public services. This paper presents the theoretical review of basic assumptions and fundamentals of BPR, as well as e-Government, and analyzes the reengineering of business processes in the public sector studying the case of e-Croatia along with benefits it brings to citizens as public service consumers.
