Introduction: The term quality of life is the subjective experience and the feeling of the individual, which implies the existence of the following determinants and conditions: the feeling of joy, life satisfaction and the existence of inner peace. Diabetes is one of the most psychologically challenging chronic diseases which involves many lifestyle changes and requires education, awareness and constant compliance with treatment by the patient. An emotional experience of the disease is an important element that can affect your own self-care, adherence to glycemic regulation, and complication risk.

For the purpose of research, the data were used which were collected by reviewing the medical documentation of the Hospital Information System. In the period from May to September 2018, after a minimum of six months of insulin therapy, patients assessed their subjective sense of health. The SF-36 Health Questionnaire was used as an instrument of research. Categorical data are represented by absolute and relative frequencies. The numerical data are described by the median and the limits of the interquartile range. Normality of the distribution of numeric variables was tested by the Shapiro - Wilk test.
Results: Grade of social functioning is significantly higher in respondents who are married with median grade of 75. Total mental health is also significantly better rated among the respondents who are married with median grade of 60.7, while in other domains there are no significant differences. Physical activity is significantly better in subjects of secondary education with median grade of 70. Mental health is considerably better rated in respondents with higher qualification with median grade of 74 compared to lower level of education. Total physical health is worst rated in the respondents with uncompleted or completed elementary school with median grade of 39, and most significantly among the respondents with higher qualification with median grade of 54.
