Sažetak

Employee motivation directly affects their performance, productivity and satisfaction. There are many ways to motivate employees but the key one is a reward system. In the selected company (RIPS - workshop and candle production), there is no clearly defined employee rewarding and motivating system and there is a certain employee dissatisfaction with the existing material and immaterial compensations. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to identify the existing ways of motivating and rewarding and their effectiveness, and to propose a new rewarding and motivating system. Data and information were collected from secondary (analysis of relevant literature and company documentation) and primary sources (surveys and interviews). Surveys were applied to the population of the selected company and the sample size was 30 (N = 30). Half-structured interviews were applied to the population of the head of the department of the selected company and the sample size was six (N = 6). Research results show that the biggest
motivators are salary, the regularity of receiving a salary, good interpersonal relationships, a pleasant working atmosphere, free days, flexible working hours and workplace safeness. Suggestions for improving the employee rewarding and motivating system are related to the variable parts of a salary such as rewards, flexible working hours (where possible) and building a pleasant working environment.
