Sažetak
The future of the green environment and sustainable development is questionable with the coming generations who, in their upbringing and education, have not gained interest in the world of plants and recognized their true importance for human survival on Earth. How to arouse students' interest in botanical topics and help teachers motivate them to actively acquire lasting knowledge, based on experiential and creative as well as applicable in everyday life? Mosses, available to everyone, the simplest autotrophic organisms, can become an interesting and attractive way for students to acquire many life-changing competencies. This is achievable through hands-on workshops in which students actively learn about the moss world and their evolutionary and practical relevance to the environment in which they live. Through creative workshops, students explore the interesting and challenging use of moss in enriching their living and working space and environment: vertical images, moss carpets, gardens in jars, eco-friendly graffiti, kokedama, sunrise gardens, water tanks for plant cultivation, conserving, hibernation, flotation, centennial food and transplanting moss. Through planned and well thought out workshops, all students approached maximum engagement, emphasizing their creativity, exploratory spirit and curiosity. The achieved results are measurable, economically usable, publicly presented and applicable in the future. This proposal is attainable by fully involving all students at the school through the project or partially through some teaching topics in the school subjects Nature and Biology.
