Sažetak

Any form of tourism which is realized in a rural area is considered a rural form of tourism, which is why rural tourism is such a complex phenomenon when observed from an academic approach. The CRO card project is multifold and complex because it involves many stakeholders, starting with the project holder - the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, then business banks and employers, and by extension their employees, and ending with the direct holders of the catering and tourist offer. The fundamental purpose and goal of this paper is to interpret the basic elements of the new, special, rural tourism of today, to understand the concept of the new project (CRO cards), presented and created by the responsible authorities (MINTS), and to conduct research to determine whether the empirical tenets of the paper are in accordance with its theoretical ones. The direct causes of the formation and creation of this research were the minority proportion of domestic tourist movements in total tourist movements, followed by the sparse interest of the local population in products and areas of rural tourism. The research was carried out on a target demographic group of employers and employees in the private sector of Koprivnica-Križevci County, and the research methods used were interviews and a questionnaire. When it comes to the employers, the research sample had 5 subjects, while the research sample of employees included 60 subjects. Bilateral research between employers and employees gives a unique picture of how they reacted to CRO cards in the context of rural tourism. This is why the empirical tenets of the paper are based on the hypothesis that the private sector is the ‘’decision-maker’’ when it comes to answering the question ‘’Are CRO cards here to stay?!’’, as a tool that will encourage and increase the demand for rural tourism products. In the end, the researchers concluded that there are two extremes for the same thesis: on the one hand, we have employers who deny the CRO card model, while on the other, we have employees who are extremely positive about it.
