Sažetak

The article compares two surviving copies of the 1762 decree signed by the Venetian prince of Zadar, Zuanne Moro. An important feature of both manuscripts is bilingualism: the text of the monument is written in parallel in Italian (original) and Croatian (translation) languages. Moreover, if the Italian part in both cases is practically identical, then the Croatian part is significantly different. In connection with this observation, linguistic analysis is carried out with an emphasis on comparing the phonetic/orthographic, morphological, and lexical features of the Croato-Glagolitic parts. As a result, it is concluded that common features prevail in the language systems of the copies. These include common reflexes of Proto-Slavic phonemes and combinations of phonemes, the transition of the final /m/ to /n/, rhotacism, loss or substitution of the grapheme «h». In the main features, the systems of nominal, pronominal, and verbal inflection coincide, as well as the vocabulary. At the same time, it is revealed that there are also systemic linguistic oppositions between the manuscripts. The principles of orthographic representation of /j/ are different, as well as the tendencies in the spelling of the reflexes of *tj/*stj, *tǝrt/*trǝt, the final -m, secondary palatalization, and the grapheme «h». The observations made illustrate the diversity of the regional written language of Zadar, formed at the intersection of the Čakavian and Štokavian areas.
