Sažetak

This paper discusses intentionality and, more specifically, the impact of the language of the new media on different aspects of meaning related to intentionality, resulting in effects described in terms of echo and flickering as phenomena that accompany and strongly affect the reception of electronically mediated messages. This is substantiated by the analysis of communication that takes place across the social media and of the effects that such communication has on reality. The conclusive part of the discussion stresses the effects of cross-contamination between electronically mediated texts and reality, also pointing to how the new media affect the notion of transtextuality.
