Sažetak

For the first time, results are given for the area of Međimurje, the province in North West Croatia between the Drava and Mura rivers. Some of the material derives from 1921, 1951, 1963 and 1969; however, most of it was collected with entomological net, catcher and shaking during 1998-2000. On the western side the province is characterised by hilly areas with forests of sessile oak and hornbeam (Querco-Carpinetum croaticum), with beech (Fagus silvatica) (Strigova, Jurovcak) and the agricultural areas that prevail in the whole of Međimurje; in places they are interspersed with smaller or larger oases of riparian forests of common oak (Genisto elatae — Qercetum roboris), copses of black alder (Alnus glutinosa), aspen (Populus tremula) or acacia (Robinia pseudacacia), as well as bushes (Prunetalia spinosae), while along Mura there are osiers (Salix spp.) and wetland forests. Out of 245 specimens from 4 families and 38 genera, 80 species of plant wasps were identified, and the species Heterarthrus vagans, Nematus flavescens and N. stichi were recorded for the first time for the fauna of Croatia. Except for a small number of species from ruderal plants, and species from wetland and very moist habitats, the numbers of species characteristic of other habitats (copses, bushes, grassland) was the same (18- 19) numbers of specimens.
