Abstract

On the occasion of a visitation of the sacristy of the Krk cathedral by Bishop Stefano David on the 22nd of March 1685 a list of the church’s inventory was drawn up. It is remarkable because it differs from the others in the text’s structure, form of writing as well as in its contents preceding the modification of the liturgical furniture in the sacristy that hasn’t been changed in larger scale ever since. The wooden closets, seats, troves and boxes are clearly distinguished with regard to terminology so that is possible, at least partly, to reconstruct the room’s appearance. Among the recorded items it is possible today to identify with certainty a set of silver altar candlesticks and a silver altar crucifix. Six candlesticks belong to the donation made by Bishop Alvise Lippoman in the third or fourth decade of the 17th century, whereas the crucifix from the year 1681 was a gift of canon Francesco Bendata. The objects figure as high-quality manufactured goods of Venetian shops and they don’t stand out in shape or craftsmanship from the standards of the 17th-century mass production on the lagoones.
