Sažetak

A field experiment with three tillage systems was conducted from 2002 to 2004 in Lila, central Slavonia, Croatia to compare tillage effects on production of soybean [Glycine max. (L.) Merr.] and winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) on Gleyic Podzoluvisol. The tillage systems were: conventional tillage (CT), conservation tillage (RT) and no-tillage system (NT). The objective of this research was to determine the effect of tillage systems on the yield of crops and on energy and labour requirement. In the first season the greatest soybean yield of 3.07 Mg ha-1 was achieved applying the NT tillage system, while with other systems lower but not significantly different yields were achieved. In the second year using the NT and CT systems wheat yields of 6.79 Mg ha-1 and 6.49 Mg ha-1, respectively were achieved and the difference to the RT system was statistically significant at probability level p≤ 0.05. The CT system proved to be the greatest fuel consumer with 57.46 L ha-1 in soybean and 54.50 L ha-1 in winter wheat production. Comparison of tillage systems with respect to energy requirement of produced grain results showed that the RT system enabled saving of 31.8 % in soybean and 32.5 % wheat production. The NT system saved as much as 90.2% energy in soybean and 90.4% energy in wheat production. The labour requirement per tonne of grain comparison showed that the RT system saved 31.6% and 26.4% respectively, while the NT system saved 88.2% and 88.1%, respectively. The economic analysis showed that the gross margin for the RT and NT system in both crop productions was higher than for the CT system.
