INFLUENCE OF DROUGHT ON REDUCTION OF YIELDS OF AGRICULTURAL CROPS

Abstract

The aim of the paper was to research the effect of drought on reduction of yield of some agricultural crops in two different years (2003. and 2005.) and three different locations. The results show that the amount of yield is in function of quantity and distribution of precipitation. Higher the drought higher the reduction and the reversely. With enough water in the soil it was possible to increase yields in drought year 2003 from 98.1% up to 129.5% in Gospić area, from 44.9% up to 72.8% in Našice area and from 30.6% up to 66.9% Kutjevo. In hydrologically better year 2005 it was possible to increase yields from 18.6% up to 42.2% in Gospić area, from 16.1% up to 21.9 % in Našice area and from 8.6% up to 23.3% Kutjevo. It is possibile to realize higher and more sure of yields on all location by installing adequate irrigation system.
