Sažetak

Among physiological disorders, most important is blossom-end rot (BER) which is caused by calcium deficiency. Among a number of factors (transpiration, high concentrations of NH4+, K+ and Mg2+ in growth medium, high pH value etc.) which indirectly cause BER, high temperature and low relative air humidity can directly influence on calcium deficiency in tomato fruit. This investigation showed that temperature higher than 28°C and relative air humidity lower than 65% affected occurrence of BER on tomato fruits. In such conditions, in the stage of eighth and ninth flower truss, there was an average of 65% of damaged fruits and when the temperature was 33-38°C and relative air humidity 56-60%, there was up to 85% of damaged ripe tomato fruits. It can be concluded, that despite optimal Ca concentrations in leaves and stems and adequate soil supply, in periods of high temperatures and low relative air humidity, Ca deficiency in fruits appears and affects BER occurrence.
