Sažetak
The habits of using media content are changing dynamically. This is evident from the majority of research in which the media habits of children and young people have been examined. However, in question are mostly national studies that do not sufficiently reveal the specific features of media use at the local level. With the aim of determining the relationship between the habits and use of electronic media and sociodemographic factors, an anonymous survey was conducted among 340 adolescent boys and girls in Split-Dalmatia County. The results showed that adolescent girls are a relatively more heterogeneous group with a higher degree of mutual differences in the habits and use electronic media compared to their peers. At the same time, the results establish two completely different directions of media use regarding the gender of the respondents. While female students, as a group, most often use electronic media for entertainment, communication and for social media, male students are primarily directed towards informative and educational content.
