Educators’ Attitudes Regarding the Implementation of Creative Activities in the Kindergarten With Children With Developmental Difficulties

Sažetak
This paper deals with the implementation of creative activities in early and preschool education institutions with an emphasis on working with children with disabilities. The empirical part of the paper presents the results of research obtained on a sample of educators from the Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Istria counties. Taking into account distinctive characteristics of working with children with disabilities, the questionnaire “Creativity in Kindergarten” was constructed, and the instrument was validated (α = 0.959). The results of the conducted research indicate the importance of developing cognitive, emotional and
social skills and abilities of children with disabilities. Educators agree that creative activities involving music, art, reading or storytelling encourage creative thinking, imagination, telling and reading stories, development of speech, communication, motor skills, expression of emotions and interaction with peers. According to the obtained data, we can conclude that educators’ attitudes towards the implementation of creative activities with children with disabilities in the kindergarten are extremely positive, and that educators are motivated to adapt methods and content. This research can be used to improve the educational
process and ensure better planning and encouragement of the achievements of children with disabilities in regular kindergarten groups.
