Sažetak

In this paper, we will interpret the activation of the grotesque code and the effect of the carnivalization process in Mirko Kovač's novel Moja sestra Elida (My Sister Elida). Grotesque and carnivalesque codes are active at all levels of the text which decisively affects the way the novel's image of the world is presented. Looking at and interpreting the consequences of the aspects of the grotesque and carnivalization, we will try to prove that precisely the grotesque and carnivalesque codes are the dominant forms of the plot. We will base our interpretation on the theories of Wolfgang Kaiser and Mikhail Bakhtin
