Sažetak

In this paper the author analyses the reflections of the Crusades upon the medieval Croatian society. Following the relevant historic sources the author gives a description of the events rellied to the passage of the Crusaders through Croatia 1096., with the destruction of Zadar in the Fourth Crusade, 1202., and with the king Andrew’s journey to the Holy Land from Split, in the Fifth Crusade, 1217. He also analyses how did those events influence upon the mentality of the medieval Croats.
In the second part the author analyses how some events as persecution of the heretics in Bosnia in the 13th century, and the battle of Nicopolis 1396., were explained as the fight against infidel, i.e. Crusades. The author also analyses the speeches against Turks in the 16th century, as the latest reminiscence of the Crusades.
In the conclusion the author points out that the reflections of the Crusades in Croatia were various. There were differences, according to the place and to the time. The consciousness of the meaning of the words "Crusades" and "Crusaders" is firmly established during the 13th century, particularly as the consequence of the persecution of the heretics in Bosnia.
