Sažetak
For the reconstruction of the history of the people and areas of the Makarska Riviera, along with the available humanities literature, the preserved archives in the Monastery in Makarska and the Monastery of St. Mary in Zaostrog are of exceptional importance today. This paper provides insight into a small portion of the archival material of these monasteries through the presentation of the inventory of Kačić Archive, which was established in 1956 by the guardian and Franciscan friar Karlo Jurišić from Zaostrog and Makarska. Today, this archive is fragmented between Makarska and Zaostrog. Part of the former archive remains in its original location in the Zaostrog Monastery, while the other part is in Father Karlo’s study in the Makarska Monastery. The paper is structured into two parts. The first provides a historical overview of the development of the Franciscan Monastery of St. Mary in Zaostrog, its library, and its archives, while the second part offers a transcript of the found catalog inventory of Kačić Archive, which was cataloged and systematized by Father Karlo Jurišić in 1956. The inventory includes a list of rare editions of Kačić’s works, periodicals, and documents related to the life, literature, and research practices of studying the life and works of Father Andrija Kačić Miošić. Among the documents in the archive, valuable letters from Franciscans to various institutions were found, requesting the purchase of available bibliography and periodicals that focus on Father Andrija Kačić Miošić, as well as letters requesting, for example, the construction of a monument to Kačić and funding for the same. Based on the material presented here, which resulted from a review of secondary data sources and field research, the hypothesis was established that the materials from the archives and libraries of both monasteries provide fertile ground for studying the history, literature, and cultural heritage of the Makarska Riviera. This can open new research perspectives and also necessitates the systematic organization of the available material and the revitalization of Kačić’s archive.
