Sažetak
The preregistration principle is a methodological step of detailing and planning the course of scientific research. No matter the outcome of the results, the preregistration must be upheld. The principle has become an important and controversial topic in psychology not only through its application, but also through metascientific discussions which argue for the implementation of the principle in all science. However, the principle opens the possibility of circular reasoning. The main critique of the principle is that it represents an attempt at neutralising the prejudices of the scientist by introducing another form of prejudice – the plan which must be absolutely followed through. Through a philosophical discussion and already conducted psychological research, this paper argues that it is impossible to achieve research results which are “purified” of human subjectivity and independent of the scientific tradition. The aim of the paper is to distinguish the philosophical analysis of the prejudice from the psychological one, which interprets it only as an emotional and behavioural disposition, to emphasize the epistemological and methodological importance of prejudice, to demonstrate the neutrality of the process of prejudication, and to conclude that the prejudice in science takes form as an anticipation which is methodologically necessary.
