The Significance of Otherness in Artistic Creation

Sažetak
In artistic creation, the attribute of otherness is essential because the process of creating art “produces” a new value. The primary claim of the article, which questions the function of otherness in artistic creation, is that otherness is necessary for artistic creation to occur. To achieve this, we will first situate artistic creativity within the metaphysics of presence, and then we will examine the opposing philosophical perspective – the deconstruction of logocentrism. We will examine Derrida’s, Levinas’s, and Nancy’s perspectives in the context of the relationship between artistic creativity and otherness.
