Abstract

The development of musical competences and skills is one of the fundamentals of music education. The frequent classroom diversity in a solfege class in the context of specific students’ capabilities and needs indicates the need for teaching that goes beyond the curriculum and the syllabus. Music school students with developmental disabilities are an important group of the music education system; it is important to provide them with a specific approach and integration within their musical education, whereby acquisition of knowledge and skills according to the needs and requirements of each student shall be emphasised. By presenting recent studies of musical well-being in teaching students with developmental difficulties in music schools and extracurricular activities, there is a new possibility to change the current teaching method and structure an individualised curricular approach.
