Abstract

E-learning and distance education reached its peak during the Covid-19 virus pandemic, and it is an indisputable fact that it has already become indispensable in all modern education. This paper highlights the importance of distance education and e-learning, since we have already encountered it and that it is the basis of the future learning of newer generations. E-learning is an educational process in which teachers and students actively cooperate with the aim of achieving the given educational goals. In doing so, they intensively use information and communication technology (ICT) to create an adaptable virtual environment and develop and use multimedia interactive educational materials, achieving mutual communication and cooperation.
The aim of the paper is to provide an overview of key terms in the e-learning process and to show its advantages and disadvantages in implementation, i.e. distance education, analyzing their impact on teachers, students and the educational system itself. Military education systems have also seen the benefits of applying information and communication technologies and are using e-learning combining it with virtual reality and artificial intelligence.
