Sažetak

This contribution proceeds from the awareness that in the today’s prevailing understanding of adult education which is narrowed down to vocational training, i.e. professional learning, there is not a slightest trace of the traditional understanding of adult education that is connected to social purposes, political involvement and the vision of a better world. In the further text, the authors remind us of the ideas by six radical adult education specialists and analyze them, the ideas that were pushed to the margins of adult education discussions due to a flood of the prevailing educational discourse. The mutual ideas by authors discussed in the text are expressed in the attempts to make people change the existing life conditions by collective learning and problem solving. Everyday experience is an important source of learning in this type of education, but this experience needs to be critically „tested“ and enhanced in dialogical discussions, study and actions. Particular emphasis lies on active participation, reflection and critical analysis of social issues.
