Sažetak
The author explored the development of pedagogical ideas between the institutional education in Croatia in the 19th century and pedagogical autonomy in the second half of the 19th century. The initial education is realized through general educational practice. Based on the general educational practice the standards have been synthesized that are described and defined as socially acceptable. They have not been written about in a systematic way but only occasionally and casually. Humanist scientists deal with problems of education, within deliberation on society and social needs, and published first complete monographic pedagogical works. Their analysis indicates that pedagogical strategy was within the area of outside motivation: coercion and incentive. The accumulation of pedagogical ideas and strategies along with other favorable conditions would produce pedagogical autonomy in the second half of the 19th century.
