Sažetak

RECOGNITION OF KNOWLEDGE
At the end of 19th and at the beginning of 20th century for the reasons of gaining reputation in society wealthy middle–class families generally considered their sons should obtain university education. That time back it was the formal, i.e. university education making the distinction between people performing intellectual, well paid jobs and people making their living by hard physical work.
SOCIETY OF KNOWLEDGE
One of the most important changes in developed societies of 20th century was appearing of social knowledge with new values and expectations. University graduated experts obtained knowledge in certain fi elds that became very applicable at diff erent institutions. Educated experts are independent and autonomous, and their knowledge is considered to be a capital for developed economies.
CONDITIONS FOR SCHOOL TEACHING
Teaching as the central process at school is one of the most important external conditions of learning and includes many teacher’s activities oriented to making the inner process of learning easier. Teaching can be successfully performed in eff ective school with the attitude that it is not important to accumulate the points at traditional standardised tests but to stimulate and monitor the personal improvement of each student. To realize and improve all aspects of students’ success and development, it is necessary to establish high standards for teachers and for students as well. Besides, year by year the effective school improves its quality by systematic and constant activities with the final aim to change conditions of learning and some other internal school conditions.
TEACHING AT MODERN SCHOOL
Teachers at school with high standards and low level of non–promoted students use successful strategies of teaching. They design stimulating and interesting activities and rich materials for learning that cultivate thinking process, expressing and creativity. Teaching is focused rather on solving problems than on reproducing the facts. Teachers themselves choose methods of teaching that enable adaptation to diff erent levels of intelligence and learning styles of their
students.
