In the Vinodolski area the Croatian teachers were very efficient, socially as well as pedagogically, in the second part of 19th century when a new and modern school system was being developed in Croatia. Together with the Vinodolski clergy, who used to supervise and manage the schools, the teachers collaborated very successfully; they influenced and advanced the school and educational system in the whole Vinodolski On the teachers' meetings they used to discuss the most important school problems and worked out numerous theoretical and practical solutions. In this way, and with the support of the clergy, they improved their routine work at schools and influenced significantly on the conception of the new School Act in 1874. By the Act they carried out and made legal the modern school system corresponding to the European pedagogical principals as well as to the Croatian social and national needs.
